What information does NetKeepers gather?
When you register for a NetKeepers account, NetKeepers obtains contact information, such as your name, address, and phone number, as well as payment information, such as your credit card number. When you use NetKeepers service, our systems record information about your session, such as the dates and times of use, and the specific Internet address assigned to you. NetKeepers also tracks requests you make for information on NetKeepers's products and services, and responses you provide to NetKeepers surveys. Finally, NetKeepers keeps records of your payment history and communications you have with NetKeepers's support team. As well every computer that is connected to the Internet is provided with a domain name (e.g. mydomain.ca) and/or an IP Address (e.g. 64.35.99.125). When a visitor requests a page from within the NetKeepers framework, our statistical ananlysis applications automatically identify and log the web request that is made to our server framework. This information reveals nothing personal about you. In fact, the only information that we automatically gather and log is as follows:
(a). The IP address of the site that may have referred you.
(b). Your IP address.
(c). The web page that you may have linked to us from, if any.
(d). The product identifier for version and make of browser (e.g. Internet Explorer 6.0, or Safari)
(e). The operating system platform that you may be running (e.g. Windows XP, Windows 98 or Mac OSX)
(f). Search words or terms that are passed from a Search Engine (e.g. Google, MSN, or Yahoo)
There is absolutely nothing special about the information just described, and the practice of collecting this data has been generally standardized by virtually every statistical analysis package currently in use.
